Story description

This wise tale tells of a boy who was upset because the rain ruined his picnic. The story develops emotional intelligence, teaching children how to handle disappointment and find the silver lining in any situation. It broadens a child's horizons by showing the benefits of rain, sun, snow, and wind through simple, relatable examples.

The key message is one of perspective and optimism: there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong mood. The book fosters critical thinking and the value of family dialogue, where every opinion matters. It's perfect for bedtime reading with your child.

The Boy and the Beautiful Weather (book excerpt)

That day, the family was planning to go to the lake with their friends. Oscar had been waiting for it so much! He had packed his ball and his brand-new picture book.

Everyone was busy getting ready for the picnic when suddenly, it started to rain.

Oscar pressed his forehead against the cool glass, watching gloomily as the rain soaked the yard. Everything looked gray and dull. This was the day he had been waiting for, and now the picnic at the lake was at risk!

“What awful weather! It ruined everything!” he sighed, stepping away from the window.

His mother came over and placed a warm hand on his shoulder.

“The rain will be over soon, my sunshine. See those big bubbles in the puddles? That’s a sure sign it’s almost finished.”

“But now there are puddles everywhere,” Oscar pouted. “And my new picture book might get wet! The best weather in the world is when the sun is shining!”

Just then, Grandma came to the window, carrying a mug of fragrant tea.
