Story description

This story is about a boy who dared to think for himself in a world where the system did the thinking for everyone. When choices were replaced by algorithms and kindness became a function, he found the courage to ask a question that had no correct answer.

Following the voice of his conscience and the support of his friends, Alexander discovers that being alive means to feel, to make mistakes, and to truly listen to others.

This is a tale about freedom born from doubt—and about a boy who learned what it means to be human, even in a perfect world.

The Boy and the Awakening of Light (book excerpt)

Chapter 1. A Perfect Morning

Alexander woke up to the voice of a smart screen hovering above him.

“Good morning! Heart rate stable, blood pressure normal. I recommend smiling.”

“And what if I don’t?” Alexander muttered.

“Then I will order a delivery of chocolate,” the screen replied.

Alexander laughed and got out of bed. His parents had already left for work. The household robot had been waiting for him to wake up: the aroma of coffee and fresh pastries drifted from the kitchen. As soon as it noticed Alexander was awake, the robot opened the curtains and began tidying the room.

Outside the window, the city shone—cloudless sky, crystal-clear air. Everything looked almost too perfect.

“Another perfectly ideal day of the year,” Alexander murmured as he picked up his portable backpack.

“Maybe I should stay home today?” he asked thoughtfully, looking at the screen.

“That parameter is not defined!” the screen replied strictly.

Alexander smirked and stepped outside. A new day was already waiting for him.
